About Nancy
From her early years, Nancy Niederhauser studied drawing and painting, continuing throughout her formal education, always taking an art history or studio class. After college, she dabbled in life drawing, landscapes and other subjects while she focused on her social work career. She devoted 40 years to her “day job” as a mental health professional, obtaining masters degrees in public administration and clinical psychology. She gave birth to NanceNotes in 1997.
The venture began after Nancy rediscovered her passion for painting during a Fall 1996 trip to Northern Italy, creating numerous pen and pastel illustrations of her adventure. Friends suggested making prints for holiday gifts and the concept grew quickly to include her first holiday card and then notecards. Her house portraits and work have been featured in private collections across the US, small San Francisco galleries and boutiques, as well as at the SF Museo Italo Americano.
For 11 years, Nancy directed much of her creativity to the SF Urban Haven & Secret Garden which she hosted on Airbnb. During that time she met wonderful folks from around the world, including her new English husband. Nancy has moved from San Francisco and continues to study and paint in Bristol, UK, where she now lives fulltime. Nancy is glad to share her art via notecards, prints and commissions for house portraits.
